This is Lorelei. Well, it's Lorelei now, but for a while when we thought she was male, her name was Zippo, named by her future adoptive daddy, Jonathan.
We brought her home on May 22, 2009 as a "singleton" that was found on a construction site. I took her home with the expectation that her brothers/sisters may join her, but no other kittens were found.
She turned out to be a real sweetheart. Our mission was to socialize her (she was so easy!) and let her grow to two pounds so she could be adopted. She was less than a pound when we took her home.
Lorelei was not a great eater, and it took her six weeks to gain the weight... When she was finally ready, she came down with diarrhea and had to take prescription meds for a week for the suspected infection.
But I'm jumping ahead of the story... After two weeks, she got roommates!
(Circumstances have changed and Jonathan is not going to adopt her, but she went on the floor with the name he gave her, and hopefully will be adopted soon.)
